A is exactly the same as UA, sans fx.. the fx must be good then no?

Yeah, I really wish and want for this to be true, but my ears tell me otherwise. UA is easier to get a raw phat sound, well before the FX. and then the FX are quite excellent. The Chorus is better suited for synths than live's Chorus. The Delay is better suited for synths, as is the reverb than Live's general purpose delay and verb.

The only advantage I've found with A is that the CPU usage is not as high. But so far, my initial tests, subjective as they may be, tell me that UA is phatter and smoother sounding than A.

Well tbh it was all the remarks over the presets that really got me going :D Man I've also become a lazy bastard!

The stand alone recording feature also is a nice touch

^yeah, that's a nice touch, but nothing you didn't already have with resample.

I will say that it's pretty cool that you can manually set the tempo. Now THAT is very cool for doing odd timings, syncopation, and purposeful timing errors. You can get some very interesting things going on with that one.

If you bought the AAS version, there are extra presets to download and also Masterclasses on the extras page http://www.applied-acoustics.com/ultraanalog/extras/

I've always been a huge fan of Analog, tbh it's probably had more use than all the other suite instruments put together so I was intrigued enough to purchase the original if only to see what the buzz was about. I have to say that it wipes the floor with the Live version, why? The FX are certainly a big part of it but I'm hearing an overall smoothness that I just can't achieve with the Live version. I never saw it as a pad synth but this one really shines there, it seems it's good at drums too and the built in arp is very musical.

Best $15 I've ever spent, I doubt I'll use the suite version again, it makes me wonder what I'm missing in the other versions.

Very pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, me too. It's made me start playing around with the arp in Live a bit more, too.

I've played around w/ it and can get some decent sounds w/ Live's arp, but the preset arps in this app sound great w/ no or very little tweaking.

Yeah, I really like the Rhythm Pattern feature in the UA arp. So, you get the pattern you picked, with those notes played on the rhythm you pick--not just swung or straight. I also like being able to make my own and save them.

I'm sure there's a way to do this in Live, but it's just so easy in this Analog thing.
