Best Candian online music hardware store? looking for LPD8

Post by dentaku » Fri Oct 16, 2009 9:32 pm

I'm looking to buy an Akai LPD8 and Kelly's Music doesn't have it (at least not yet) and Long and McQuade don't either (they would probably be overpriced anyway).

This place is only getting it next month http://www.moogaudio.com/product_info.p ... f1890fa9ce

and I COULD order it from the States but I'd rather get it form Canada.

hiphoptools.com is your friend. They are in Canada but deal in US funds.

They DO seem to be Canadian and even though the prices they give are in $US the exchange rate is almost negligible at the moment.

The LPD8 doesn't seem to be a available though.

I got my LPD8 in the mail yesterday from HipHipTools.com. There was a problem with the site when I tried to order it (only the LPD8 had problems) so after a few e-mails with Aaron it got fixed and I ordered it.

This Akai stuff looks way more sturdy than my Korg nanoKontrol for example.

Try analoguehaven.com they are in the US but I just bought a Tetr4 from them and it was cheaper than Moog Music... I'm in Toronto...

Tom Lee music has always been good to me - even though I have Long and McQuade, Steve's, Moog etc all within easy driving distance, I have ordered several things with Tom Lee in Vancouver and their customer support was great. However, it seems to be on order there too. They are not always the cheapest but often have some insane blowouts. I got 2 Rode M3 mics from them for an INSANE price that was 40-50% better than the Xmas specials at Long and McQuade and Steve's etc. I got an insane deal on Guitar Rig 2 from them as well.

I have to say though that hiphoptools is a great site too, with good prices on regular stock not just blowouts most of the time.

If Long and McQuade even had the LPD8 available it would still probably be cheaper to get it shipped from HipHopTools than buying it from L&M.

HipHopTools is definitely the place for anything AKAI in Canada.

Sure. They rule on AKAI stock.
