I've struggled with this problem for a while, getting around it by restarting Ableton... a crap solution I know. Now it's worse.
What happens is that (usually with Reaktor 5 as a vst) the vst window disappears and doesn't come back. The "show plug-in" button is most definitely on, but Reaktor is nowhere to be see. Live seems to think that it is there, but it is not. And it's not just hidden in the corner either.
Suggestions? Advice?
Love
Edit: I'm using Live 8 on Windows for the record.

instead of restarting ableton have you tried deleting the track then undoing it?
but hmmm... that sounds like a typical NI product to me

yes I've tried that. Tried restarting the whole computer too. Now even if I start a new project and load Reaktor into a track it doesn't work at all... hmmm

I had the same problem for about six months,I never actually found a solution to it though.
I have a different computer now and I haven`t come across that issue yet.
It can be really annoying though,I feel your pain.

I had this same issue and fixed it by clicking the tiny little settings tab in the upper left hand side of the Plugin preset window, and clicking configure in the expanded window.
