OT: save the freakin earth you dumb humans
in honor of international day of climate action i am starting a nice of topic post.
http://www.350.org/en
every little thing helps
ride a bike
buy local
buy organic
buy used
don't buy anything
turn power off consuming devices when not need
the more money we spend the more responsible we need to be to ensure we are not supporting companies and governments that are destroying the earth.
add to this list....
be aware...
here is a old improvisation that we did that i feel is kind of fitting
always the right time by boson havoc featuring lux divon on vocals

Re: OT: save the freakin earth you dumb humans
this is something ive though alot about
i might be opening up a can of worms....
i try to do as much as i can but to tell the truth its the industrial
construction sector that has to be the most diligent in trying to cut back
on material and energy waste. alot of these companies provide you with the
amenities that you take for granted - ie. the chemical plant that provides
chlorine to purify water (also same chemical plant might provide caustic
to a mill for paper ect...) so dont vilify them.
i get a sense that its the end consumer who gets most of the attention as to who
is supposed to make changes where as industrial/construction kindof flies under the radar
ive seen first hand ho wasteful the industrial sector is.
for example...when we deliver things around the plant area where i work, typically if something
is on a pallet and you dont want it to fall, off you just wrap it with saran wrap. this is something thats
relatively small and nobody thinks about but very wasteful. so how about a pallet that is stack able and has sides
on it so nothing falls off? maybe made of recycled plastic so its durable, easy to clean and recyclable itself?
anyways i guess my point is that there is alot of pressure put on the end consumer when there is a VAST amount of room
for other innovations in different sectors that nobody really thinks about...
(ive come up with some really wacky ideas that everybody i work with laughs at )

I seem to remember that when I was a kid Tomorrow's World tried to convince everyone that there was about to be an ice age. It's all just bullshit so people have a cause to fight against: 1984 wasn't as far off the truth as you'd think
Some stuff, and some other stuff. Honest.

Re: OT: save the freakin earth you dumb humans
its not about panic or anything like that..
hell their is a cycle of earth that involves ice ages and continental shifting and all kinds of stuff.
humans polluting the earth over the last few hundred years may have not had as big of an effect as some would think... but then again maybe it has...
the main question is why?
why not do the right thing?
as in you.. the self.. the individual .
the problem with shit like this is people look at everyone else and not them selves.
the people are the ones that support the corporation and the governments
if you don't buy any gas today that is money that the corporation and government will not receive.
so if one person doesn't put $10 into that system it doesn't seem like allot
but if 100 people do not put $10 into that system then we are getting somewhere
1000 people 1,000,000 people.
it all has an impact.
think about all the trash you throw into the garbage in 1 day
then think about where that trash goes
think about 10,00,000 people doing the same exact thing you are.
now think what if a large portion of that waste could have been easily avoided by 10,000,000 people.
that is how one person can have an impact.
its not really that hard

The Earth got along alright for 4.5 billion years through cataclysmic changes of which we cannot even begin to approach.
I think we should be conservative in how we utilize our resources especially in the developed countries.
But I also agree that our world governments are herding us along, to whatever finish line they expect to cross.

Unsound Designer
Re: OT: save the freakin earth you dumb humans
The human phenomenon is divided in a multitude of individuals which is perfect for evolution and adaptability but slow down awareness of any global threat. We are like a microscopic moss on a rock, nothing more, until we realize we can focus and expand.
Does it matter anyway? I am biased toward human survival since I have kids and want happiness for them but from 20km up, there is no difference between a flower field or a desert.
I really love other species though... I care more for life diversity than humans I am sorry to say.

the planet will take care of itself. govts are always looking for the next tax. a "green" tax seems to be in the cross hairs these days.

obviously the planet will take care of itself. the planet doesn't care if life exists on it
