Max For Live Pluggo discount?

Post by parma » Wed Nov 04, 2009 7:24 pm

I remember either someone from Ableton or Cycling saying that there would be a discount on M4L for owners of Pluggo. Didn't see anything on the pricing page.

Anyone from Ableton or Cycling want to chime in?

I don't see this "Pluggo" discount mentioned anywhere in the new price list either. I hope it's addressed.

"Our Pluggo-inspired devices will be freely available for use with Max for Live, and in recognition of our loyal customer base, we have arranged with Ableton to provide Max for Live discounts to plug-in customers. Details will be announced when the product is released later this year."

C74/Ableton have to do it!

I emailed customer support. Patience= a virtue I don't have.
Here's hoping for a $150 discount.

Pluggo has been around $199 for a couple years now.

Any guesses on actual discount? I'm guessing realistically $75-100.
$50 would hurt a bit IMO.

I did the same earlier in the day my time.
It would be nice to lose a $100.00 off of the upgrade price.
So to upgrade with pluggo would be 199 instead of the 299.

@Homebelly, yeah my guess realistically is between $55 and $75.
$100+ if they feel really guilty about discontinuing Pluggo, or just particularly generous.

They didn't just discontinue it though. They repackaged it as content for M4L. Pluggo license owners buying into M4L shouldn't have to pay TWICE for the same content, am i wrong? Sure we get to tweak the plugs now; that's worth about 50% (including depreciation) to me. There's no sight of a runtime M4L license on the horizon so you better believe the packaged content is key to selling it to folks with no patching inclinations.

Certainly hoping for $100 discount or the guts of $100, not out of 'guilt' but because I think that would be fair & reasonable.

I emailed Ableton about this yesterday and I'm still awaiting a reply.

Hopefully soon. Hopefully discounted. :D

a discount would be quite nice, since I really can't live without my amazing pluggo plugins. One of the best plugin packs hands down.... 8)

Question isn't whether we get a discount, but how close it comes to the discount Max/MSP users got!
I know it won't be that low, but if it was there would be a lot of happy newly loyal customers. :)

I think it could be argued that Pluggo owners should get the same discount. In the future, the only way to use "pluggos" will be in M4L whereas Max/MSP owners will still have full access to that app to work outside of Live. So, even though there is a large difference in price between Pluggo and Max/MSP at least Max will still be supported/updated in the future (assuming of course that Cycling keeps supporting it).
