Once again, I'll voice a minor dissenting opinion.

I would say, "If it sounds good a week from now, it's good." Pick your time interval, but you have to remove yourself from the novelty effect in order to properly judge something. For many people, newness == goodness.

I wonder how this could be applied to new gear before buying it... :D

Thanks, Pasha, for sharing that tip. I just used it today and it helped me. I'm cleaning up some voice recordings of a focus group, and I needed to get radical on it.

In fact, I just discovered this thread today. Many thanks to the Abletons for keeping this very useful forum together and available over the years. Lots of precious knowledge like this is in here.
