bcr2000 programming

Post by shoma2007 » Tue Nov 17, 2009 11:24 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm new to these forums, and I just wanted to ask a couple of questions about the BCR2000.

I'm running a macbook pro (leopard) w/ ableton live 7.0.14.

Thinking about buying a bcr2000, but I just wanted to see exactly what kind of mods and features were available for it.

I specifically would like to be able to launch more than one clip at once, ala the apc40.

I've been searching around on the forums, and it seems as though the whole mackie emulation thing is popular, but I don't exactly understand what it offers.

I also make a living as a programmer, so if someone could tell me exactly how one goes about programming the bcr, I would be willing to put some effort into making a good mod for it that would have the features I need (specifically multi clip launching), given that one doesn't exist currently.

Thanks in advance,
Shoma

This might be a better place to ask:

I just program it by hand and use automap (connect it up, hit the DUMP button in Live's midi settings.)

there are no decent program software programs for the BCR, IMO we don't need one, but many other people would like one. there was a java based one floating around, never worked for me.

Actually, there's a lot of info about programming for the unit here

If someone made a decent editor for OSX I'd be chuffed :)

Thanks guys.

I'm going to look into that stuff tonight.

Any idea where I could get some info about programming in relative clip launching? It'd be nice to be able to launch multiple clips at once within a 8x2 window, that could be moved to anywhere within my session view, with the buttons at the top of the unit. Basically like what the apc40 does.

Thanks again,
s

Tone Deft: By "program by hand" do you mean midimapping, or BCL programming? Or something else entirely?

Just curious, seeing as I would really like to figure out all the options available to me before figuring out my best approach.

I meant old school midi mapping. once you get into a flow you can edit the midi channel and CC# on a page pretty fast. do it right and you can edit preset #1, copy that to #2 and do less work on preset 2. that box is so damn versatile, lots of ways to work with it.

but yeah, please do code up an editor.

BC Manager is the top editor for the BCR...

mapping to the grid shouldn't be a problem.... just map and save to the 'templates' folder in the Library (L8)

there's also an extensive programming manual PDF and various other files..in the Yahoo group...

...hehe... you can use the editor to re-map the 'store/learn/edit/exit' buttons...for an extra 4 buttons...
you can also change the functionality of the 'encoder group' buttons... and choose to use 2 or 3 groups instead of 4...
the 'BC manager' is very extensive..
