EXSP AU

Post by djadonis206 » Wed Sep 29, 2004 12:46 am

I have the logic big box special from a couple years ago so now I'm trying to upgrade the EXSP to an AU so I can use it in Live - however the installer keeps telling me the software cannot be installed on my computer

I talked to a tech support guy earlier today while at work and he said to move the plug-in to the system level - anybody know what this means - I'm moving this thing all over the place and still getting no where

I'm on OSX 10.2.8

word

Peace

Also, did you download the recent update to the emagic AUs?

yeah I did but there's no esxp component

It's weird I have the exs (they gave it to me free for some reason) but the esxp is no where to be found unless I open 5.0 weird - I'm giving up I have Kontakt, I was just curious

If you're trying to run the recent AU update but can't, it's probably because you haven't installed the AU version of the EXSP24.

There were two "updates" from Emagic for that plug-in: the first was OS 9 VST only, the second was a CD installer with both the EXSP24 and EVP73 for OS X AU.

You need to have installed the second CD in order to upgrade it.

Hope that made sense. I'd call Emagic and ask if the EXSP24->AU upgrade is still available.

You MUST have the EXSP24 OS X CD which is the original Audio Unit version of EXSP24 otherwise the update from the Emagic web site won't install. The OS9 version is useless for installing the latest AU 1.1 version.

Emagic only sells the EXSP24 with Logic Express now. There are no more seperate bundles.

For the record, EXSP24 1.1 works great in Live!

Being a new Logic user I'm totally confused. Is there an AU version of the EXSp24 that should come with Logic Pro? Or is this a different plugin that you have to buy separately? I'd love to be able to use it in Live.

I talked to Emagic USA yesterday and the disc for the OSX install is on the way - I'm a little excited - for some reason Kontakt is not doing one specific thing I want it to do to my loops - basically open and close the filter via the LFO on the quarter note - it's not starting in the LFO waveform at the same point every time I restart my sequencer - I even have the LFO sync'd but retrigger is disabled because I have multiple midi notes in the seq (whatever, the worlds at war and I'm worried about a LFO - hello!) - it's a small problem but The Dr. Rex handles that fine

However the filters in the exs series are much stronger than most software samplers I've heard - cool

Peace

-Exs Mk II : Included in Logic Pro 6/7.

-Exsp : An Audio Unit/vst that was included in the BigBox bundle by Emagic.

-Exsp MK II : The new version of the plugin that will ship with Logic Express 7

Post by djadonis206 » Sat Oct 02, 2004 6:52 pm

So I got the update in the mail and I got the exsp 1.1 component in the proper location library/plug-ins/components

however when I try to load the EXSP in Live I get an error "failed to locate audio unit exsp"

it's weird, I see the plug in but cant initialize it -

anybody?

yes, the funny part about that is version 1.0 AU actually opens in Live but I get this horrble buzzing, so I install the update and it "failed to locate audio unit exsp"

Try using Disk Utility to Repair Permissions on your system drive.
