Is the audio 8 good for recording also I have alot of synths and drum machines that's the only thing holding back from getting it I don't want it just for djing with ableton thanks

Maybe a better question is anyone using the audio 8 to record synths and stuff into ableton thanks

I know you asked about NI and Presonus, but man for $150 more you'd get a MOTU Ultralite mk3 (which now has USB2 and Firewire!). Plenty of I/O, good drivers, and good quality. Just a thought!
