anyone else having Alchemy crash Live 8.1 on startup?

Post by nuxnamon » Wed Nov 25, 2009 7:05 am

8.09 works fine, but 8.1 stalls and crashes on startup.. some one mentioned to trash Live's config file.. I don't know where that is and if that is even a good idea.. thanks in advance..

OSX 10.5.7
Mac Pro 2xQuad core

works fine for me... turn off au/vst support, shut down live, then reload it and turn them back on.

stupid question but how do you turn off au/vst support and shut it down when I can't even get it booted up? are you talking about making these changes in 8.09 and then trying to open up 8.1?

do they have alot of fine filipino girls in Australia?

no dönt remove plugins from folders. Just switch vst plugin folder off in the preferences

Live sometimes has issues with the original scan of Alchemy, either from a new Alchemy install or from a new Live version. Trash Live's preferences .cfg.

Trashing the prefs is a bit overkill if you can just remove the vst/au and restart. If you trash it, you lose all your other settings related to all of Live and have to set up everything again.

Yay it worked for me too! Except I was having a problem with Massive, FM8 and Absynth. I then tried removing another already working plugin and restarting and then putting it back in. And live crashed upon seeing that again. I guess there must just be a bug in the new VST scanning on load in 8.1?

ps Thanks very much for stopping me from bashing my head on my keyboard!

A lot of times, that's exactly what's needed, though. I've had much more consistent results with trashing preferences than unselecting and reselecting the plugin folder- it seems that something gets corrupted downstream when Live chokes on a plugin on my system.
