Bug in Live 8.1 and REX files?.. causes crash..

Post by nuxnamon » Wed Nov 25, 2009 5:00 pm

don't know if you guys have this but I and a few other people from the camelspace forum reported this but am not sure if it was reported to Ableton..

Dragging a REX file from the browser will cause Live 8.1 to crash.. It seems isolated to ver 8.1 as I tried 8.09 and it worked fine there..

Mac Pro 2xQuad
OSX 10.5.7
Ableton 8.1 Crash
Ableton 8.09 ok

Yep, I had this happen last night, only I didn't even drag the REX file, I accidentally clicked on the REX version of a sample in Live's browser (instead of the WAV version) and Live crashed.

that's absurd for you to think it's a mac thing. :D
I'm sure there's a app to fix this from the app store..

I don't think the Abes have endorsed Windows 7 yet:

System requirements

Mac: 1.25 GHz G4/G5 or faster (Intel Mac recommended), 1 GB RAM (2 GB recommended), Mac OS X 10.4.11 (10.5 or later recommended), DVD-ROM drive

Windows: 1.5 GHz Pentium 4 or Celeron compatible CPU or faster (multicore CPU recommended), 1 GB RAM (2 GB recommended), Windows XP or Windows Vista, Windows compatible sound card (ASIO driver support recommended), DVD-ROM drive, QuickTime recommended

The installation size of the Essential Instrument Collection 2 is 15 GB.

You're correct, they don't officially support win 7. However, taken from http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=127770

Live 8.0.8 passed all our internal Windows 7 testing routines during the last weeks and there are currently no general known problems.

However, due to the many constellations of hard and software out there there's still a small chance for something misbehaving in certain setups and use cases.
As some Mac users are having the problem I doubt it's a specific win 7 issue.

Instant crash here, win xp sp3, q6600. I just tried dragging a rex to an empty track. Nice crash, I wonder haw that one slipped through the net? Surely somebody must have tested Rex files, I hardly ever use them any more so never thought to try it.
