^^ @MW Classically trained or musically talented is something that means little to me. It's not that I'm not impressed at times, it's simply a pretty small part of what I find compelling about music.

I couldn't have been happier when Nirvana came out and took guitar leads away from all those wankfest rock bands.

I like Brittney more though. Better songs. But by no means am I making an argument. It's just me.

@Knot, I hear you. I'm just as happy as a pig in shit whether I'm listening to the Ramones or Robert Fripp. However, in the pop world I'm always surprised when a star can even put two sentences together; let alone rip loose a blues inspired riff on one of their own tunes.

It's a case of low expectation being raised. Or something. lol

The flip side would be someone like Norah Jones. Classically trained, but I could honestly give two shits. Music so fucking ass boring that I want to cut my face off with a rusty can opener whenever I hear her. Fucking shite singer as well.

Yeah, i don't know what makes things so compelling to me or not. I often can't explain my own likes or dislikes.

I really like old recordings though. The soul is well more exposed and raw when all of it had to come from the performer. So I'm naturally a purest as i've gotten older.

But Brittney's "Toxic" track blows my mind. That track rocks my world. Best pop track ever imo.

Go figure..... I don;t question it

Agreed, but Billie Jean is still miles above anything Spears has put out, and that's got a lot to do with the musicians and talent on that song. Pop music is intentionally simple, good pop music is deceptively 'simple' IMO. It's possible I think to have both, why Elton John is famous etc. I'm not an Elton John fan, but I get why he's where he is.

who are you kidding, I don't know the hooks to any spears songs, that was a joke right, is she really on that level to you I know her finances and tabloid are but her songs haven't moved me like that, I do know the hooks to some backstreet boys songs but I don't even know one brittney hook

thanks kk honestly it's ok for me I can hear the money in the making of the track but imho it's pretty weak compared to like princes head or controversy albums.

Some trivia: the samples are from 1981 movie, very smart , composer is dead, the movie wasn't mainstream, and they "messed" the sample a bit. Unlike "Addictive" of Dr Dre who took Hindi song - entire 4 minutes - also from 1981 but the composer still alive and wealthy to afford court case. Truth hurts indeed, Dre lost the case, lesson- if you dont clear a sample at least mess it up and not take entire song and put you shit on top as Dre did.

I just checked it out, damn, almost forgot that case, Dre is such lazy ass, shameless indeed.
Old skool Hindi kitch, no modern Bollywood ,Sharukh Khan but pure hindi cheesy film, yet charming in its own way. The groove is great, those rhythm section chaps do same thing since decades, fun to work with them, you cue them and they lock into the groove, dont wonder how those drums sound thick,no, tricks, overdubs, just few dozens of drummers playing live.
