Nothing like being active to stimulate the mind.
I find that reading also helps quite a bit... provided it's a decent book!
Another thing that helps me is looking at art. I've spent quite a bit of time at the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) and I think it all adds to my odd musical interests.

It's almost the opposite for me. I run, bike, snowboard, skateboard, or lift weights almost daily. Always a struggle for me to decide to stay in the studio or go out and play

do some covers of your favorite songs. they dont have to be perfect, just for fun.
The Push / Novation Launch Pad / Novation Launch Pad Pro / Novation Launch Key
/ Launch Control XL / Machine MkII / Machine Studio / BeatStep / Livid OhmRGB / Livid Code V2 / Apc 40 MKII
no computers or synths
20 Copies of Ableton Live Lite.

Listening to any Enigma album does it for me.

Loop jams on Grateful Dead - Fire on the Mountain, sounded terrible but it was fun to mess around with.

yup - exercise is pretty good, though sometimes i find it a right struggle to go to the gym, once im there its great.
art exhibitions, booze, then wandering around town recording random nonsense on various devices always seems to stimulate something too

How do you get into writer's block? Any tips? I'm trying to finish an album and I can't stop writing new songs...
Re: how to get out of writers block
I don't often get writers block but when i do i make sure i stay away from anything music-making related for a couple of days and ideas seem to start forcing their way back in.
If i'm just feeling slightly lacking in inspiration then some sound/patch design often gets things flowing.

oh fuck me, it all started around "I Do", then became terminal when the twins were born. Haven't finished a song since...the girls have their 9th birthday in February.

Sorry, I meant I do one (or a few) of those things every day, not all of them. But yes, I snowboard a lot in the winter, yea for season's passes.Android Bishop wrote:Tarekith wrote:It's almost the opposite for me.
