A runtime would be nice, even for a price, but the price for full-on M4L is fair I think.

I want Italian leather shoes at the "Made in China" price.
I want German engineered cars but with a Made in Korea price.
I want a US made Fender but at the made in Mexico price.

Oh, and give me Italian Gelato and a ride in a Gondola at Walmart while you are at it!

We aren't in Tijuana bartering with pesos! Is this guy for real?

well the problem is that you get:

china quality leather shoes for an italian price
korea engineered cars with a german price.
mexico made fender with an us price.

therefor the price is to high.

I think the price is awesome!
I get Max/Msp integrated in Live, and for that price it's a steal!
only reason why I havent bought it yet is because I spent all my money buying christmas gifts to my family, and I even got a Monocase from my girlfriend. So I'm not complaining.
Next month I'll buy M4L :D
(coz it's so affordable)
Dell XPS 8000
Macbook 2.4Ghz 4GB RAM
Ableton Live 8.2.7
Akai APC40
RME Fireface 400
Axe-FX II

I suspect the price will come down at some stage in the future fairly soon (doesn't it always?) and Ableton are clever enough to know that a lot of copies at a reduced price still makes for more money and what that exactly means price wise we'll have to wait and see. I think this is a super good situation for Cycling too because the Max userbase is going to be waaaayyyyyyy bigger.

Price seems fine enough to me. Comparable to similar products, Eg: Reaktor usually sells for £299

have you ever used it? it's a lot of power at a nice price, marked down from $700.

Isn't it similar to the "annual" upgrade costs for Live itself?

Pricing is a relative concept. If you will max out M4L's abilities and take your skills to the next level then it's worth the price. How much you put in is how much you'll get out of it! If you only noodle around with the presets then of course................

I noticed this post and took a look at the price. $249 seems pretty steep, but I'm not planning on buying it anyway. It looks interesting, but it seems like a niche market. I don't feel hard done by. Personally I'm more interested in a discounted version of the Orchestral Instrument Collection or a copy of u-he Zebra 2.5. When the price comes down I may change my mind, but for the time being I'll just ignore it.
