Proper mastering requiers a studio set uniquely set up for that specific purpose.
With it's own unique tools.
And a different set of ears than that of the artist or the enginer.
I don't care what Ableton puts out.
Live is my favorite audio tool in the world. But it will never be a proper tool for mastering.
And I'm fine with that.

?? have you ever seen that? or a pro studio that runs the tracking with ableton? I havent yet..and i see jobwise quite a few frm the inside.. usually the only copy of ableton life in the room is the one on my laptop..

however ..it would be theoretical possible but live dont provides much functions you need for mastering...

it not even shows you the lenght of a clip in time... you cant draw in waveforms to elimate clicks.. and its prety new that you can trunecate them.. exporting of audiofile in multiple formats in one go??? see the truth..its pretty useless for mastering

and for the tracking?.. no locking of events to timecode.. no midi timecode support .. no latency free midi ...no exact placement of midi events..
no automation ... also not ideal

beside its not so long ago the audio quality of life really was inferior because warping was allways on and that burned the name of live in the eyes of many studio people...

quite a few reasons life is not seen as a production platform in the professional world

its however good for composing electronic music... or for quickly catching or creating lines.. and its good for stage use..what it originally was intended for..

Exactly 3phase!!! If the makers of Live have any intention of becoming serious competition to Pro Tools, Logic or any of the other software used for tracking or mastering they will have to include those features.

Even if they don't I'm thrilled with Live. The latest version offers more features than I have time to explore and I applaud their decision to slow development and tighten up the current version. Sure, most audio software companies don't do this but Live does much more than they do.
