You guys know I hate off topic threads but Nutrition??

Post by starving student » Sat Jan 02, 2010 10:16 pm

Recently I stopped consuming sugar, you know it's not healthy, cavities, makes you fat etc...generally it's better to have a low sugar intake, but I love grapefruit with sugar on it I'm like a grapefruit fiend, so I was having lunch and pouring a ton of that sugar substitute called Equal on it and I began to wonder how healthy is that?
I mean if I drown everything in Equal like I used to do with sugar would there be any nutritional issues with that besides cancer, like is it bad for teethe, will it make you gain weight or whatever?

I know some of you cats are physical trainers stop hoggin the health :)

nah it makes you fat too.

your body thinks it's sugar. So I read a while back.

Go for pink grapefruits, they sweet.

And it'snot so much the sugar (donno how much you eat like) as the carbs and fat/

Eat more vegtables / salads and protein and less carbs and fat.

Do more excercise. After a bit it's amazing how fast your metabolism gets. . .
I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

first of all, there's a really great sweet grapefruit - it's called an "orange"!

Secondly, do NOT use artificial sweeteners, if you must use sugar get some good organic cane sugar. Yum.

BUT I would like to recommend something that has an incredibly low glycemic index, yet is heaps sweeter than sugar: Agave syrup. It's awesome for sweetening.

...nice punch.. but not exactly the same eh?
I love oranges and grapefruits for their individual taste...
never understood the need to add sugar to fruits..
don't mind the bitterness..

that is kinda my point; if you start trying to take away the bitterness from a grapefruit then you no longer have a grapefruit, hehe.

Oh, pomelos are worth looking into - they're good this time of year, and real sweet and meaty.[/quote]

Pink Grapefruit is my favorite by far. Ripe they aren't really bitter, just lower in sugar than oranges.

New diet plans for the new year involve zero sugar, zero refined anything. Next to zero cooked foods and carbs, zero animal product.
Sounds like hell to some of you I'm sure, but I spent about 6 months a few years ago on a raw food diet and it felt really great. You start to crave healthy food after a while. What broke it for me was a trip to the UK with no plan on how to stay on the diet.
