but, blueberries *are* really good for you.

If you get the majority of your carbs from fruits, greens and more substantial veggies, forgo the bread and potatoes, it is amazing how good it makes you feel. I was on that for a while and slipped, but will be on it again for the next couple of months.

Also, if you like meat, and like chili, try making some using ground bison. It has more protein and the fat is more digestible than beef.
I agree with that - I've been eating less starchy/sugary carbs lately and feel better for it, hoping to continue it for a while. Got the idea from my brother who's done it for a while and says it's made a massive difference to his energy levels, digestion, etc. My immune system is still a bit shit but that's always been a true for me, starting on the Vitamin D3 after hearing good things...

Oh and all you vegetarian/vegan/raw types go ahead, I'll keep enjoying my nice juicy steaks, nothing wrong with decent quality meat IMO :D

Can you name some products it's in. I know in light soft drinks for example, but what more?

many of the so-called "light" or "lite" products - yoghurts, candy and such things. Only one real way to avoid it; read the back of the box ;)

So does milk, but hey, enjoy your spoon fed propaganda.

Also, are you aware that you already produce estrogen?
Propaganda? You think the FDA is your friend when it comes to food?
And yes, i'm well more aware than you think Mr. ManBoobs. Estrogen is a matter of quantity isn't it?
Homeopathic menopause pills are made from soy you know.

Six articles below and i bet after you read them ( yes, good references included ) you will quit soy.

Soy should be avoided, he says.

Like, cigs should be avoided?

Huffing gasoline should be avoided?

That's the problem with all these cautionary tales. There's no relativity or perspective. At all. lol.

Then again, the very thought of anything soy (except soy sauce) makes me vomit.

:P

Ooooo.

Now THIS is more like it.

Very cute. Perky. Girl next door kinda thing.

I almost shot my load when the pic of the bacon came on, but managed to plow through anyway. Turning off the volume certainly helped.

thankfully I'm vegan because my stomach can't handle all that other crud anymore... which means a burger is still a great thing for me, taste-wise - These days it's a veggie burger for me. I like those even more than a well-made hamburger, which was a really pleasant surprise!

I consume an incredible amount of aspartame (Equal) from Diet Coke and I can tell you honestly, having done a lot of research on the subject, that I seriously doubt it leads to any of the terrible things "they" say it does. Granted it is a synthetic chemical, you're not injecting it directly into your veins (are you?), so it's irrational to fear it on that basis. By the time it reaches your bloodstream, aspartame breaks down into the same components found in fruit and starches. So for all purposes, it's pretty natural at the point that counts.

I think, based on the FDA's track record, that if there was any real risk whatsoever, they'd pull it immediately off the market. They're crazy on the ball when it comes to that stuff.

Sadly most of the research on the subject is funded BY Nutrasweet and Equal, so there's a decent chance that if the results came back negative, they wouldn't publish them. But based on what I understand of the chemistry (I won't be obnoxious and list off whatever credentials I have), it's really not as scary as the panicked conspiracy theorists are making it out to be.

You're going to eat either sugar or a substitute (unless you have the will-power of a god), so why not steer clear of diabetes and go with something they've not conclusively found to be dangerous rather than something we've known for centuries will fuck up your health?

giving up on sugar or just reducing it to the minimum is a very good idea. but as sugar consumption has a serious psychological aspect to it, and as most of us are no less than addicted to sugar, why not taking this chance to get used and explore other tastes?
what i'm saying is, better living with less sweetness in your life. tough, i know, but learn to like the taste of grapefruit...! it's a bit like giving up on brickwall compression and starting to mix with more headroom :P
sugar kills the dynamic range of taste.
