I've been listening to this all afternoon:

http://pitchfork.com/features/staff-lis ... of-2009/1/

Yeah, yeah... it's one reporter's opinion... the world according to Pitchfork.

But how many albums did you buy in 2009 in order to compile a list of your favorite 100 songs of the year? Exactly. There's a lot of questionable shit on here, but it's good to take a listen and learn about some new artists. If you can find a link to download these, it's a good idea to put them on your iPod and give them several tires. A lot of this stuff is slow-burner material. The first five times you hear it - it won't click. But then you'll be back for more.

What about the historic opus "LOL Smiley Face"?

I kinda stay away from Pitchfork stuff now for the most part, but I usually scan through their lists to see if there's anything which grabs my attention. That said, I'm a sucker for end-of-year lists and usually canvas my friends for album recommendations around December.

Wow, I couldn't even name 100 songs from 2009 much less my favorites :)

And what do you reckon they'll do with a load of tires?

I was pleasantly surprised to see Daniel by Bat For Lashes at no.4 on that list. It's probably the best song of last year.

I hate all websites that think 30 seconds of audio is going to help the artist in some way.

idiot corporates cowering under their desks about the horror of web music

Fooools!
