Winter NAMM 2010 = FAIL.

Shit + Shit = Shit

Shit - Shit = Shit

i heard that the linn drum II prototypes couldnt run off of the meager power that standard wall outlets provide

so they have put it on indefinite hold until a small cold fusion reactor can be built to place inside of it

this just makes me even more excited!!!!!!!!!!!!

to me it looks like korg had a lot of KP3 shells lying around and thought

"the kaossilator is the only thing people like in the entire kaoss line, lets make a bigger one to get rid of all these KP3 parts"

i have a feeling that its going to be just like the kaossilator, a toy, but now, bigger and more expensive

korg seems hell bent on making toys lately it seems (kaossilator, wavedrum, microsampler), what they need to do is make an updated analog synth (korg mono/poly2?)

No products touting multi-sampling with synth architecture and flash memory. Come on manufacturers, this is already long, LONG overdue. No the Korg Microsampler isn't enough! If only that Mopho keyboard could address samples...

NAMM has been progressively winding down over the past 3 years or so. People don't have the money to buy really expensive bespoke projects such as the Roger Linn/Dave Smith project in a global recession and banks aren't lending the money on such risky investments. I wouldn't be surprised to see many major players withdraw from the expense of it all before 2012, with the internet and Twitter, Youtube etc, media is so cheap to make these announcements.

The new Nuendo sync device is good for multiple clocking/syncing to timecode and should help it continue it's following in post production and hopefully eat into Protools market as it costs less than Digidesigns sync device.

NAMM news so far have been seriously unexciting.

Maybe that's a good thing, though. Keeps my finances in check.
