I posted this in the music to wake up to thread...hadn't seen this one yet....

NASA Symphony of the Planets.....incredible deep ambient to go to sleep to.
Electromagnetic recordings from the Voyager spacecraft converted to acoustic frequencies.....sooooo goooood!
http://www.amazon.com/Symphonies-Planet ... B000001V2O

Insane prices now that it is out of print, but well worth it if you can find the 5-disc set for a reasonable price.

This is a sample....

Absolutely some of the greatest Ambient music I've ever heard. Incredible moods on each of the 5 discs.

A 10 track version of this is available at the iTunes Music Store. But it seems that only 2 of the recordings are the same as the CD set, the other recordings are not as strong as the ones from the CD set.

'Our universe is not silent. Although space is a virtual vacuum, this does not mean there is no sound in space. Sound does exist as electromagnetic vibrations.

The specially designed instruments on board the Voyager & other space probes performed special experiments to pick up & record these vibrations, all within the range of human hearing (20-20,000 cycles per second).'

Dig this: from disc 2: this is more typical of the 5-CD set. Very eerie -just what you'd expect from space recordings!

BBC World Service (Unless someone is discussing the craft of writing or theater, then I get too offended by pretentiousness to sleep. Also I hate one of the American experts that is often interviewed on World Business News.)

I always want to fall asleep to My Bloody Valantine, but something always wakes me up.
