Thanks DaffyDub,
really interesting.
I'd like you to help me with this store : I can't see anywhere If they actually got it in stock... I don't want to have the same problem again!!!
I'm a bit undestanding german, but not enough to call them on t he phone
thanks a lot for this wonderful link, even if it's 150 euros more than the deal I had made on dv247

Best of luck - hope they have it

Ok, THOMANN sells mackie C4s for 375 euros...
the site says 'in stock'...
I emailed them before making another too-quick-order, hope it's really in stock!
cheers
ps: strange, I'm absolutely sure I had checked their store for the C4, and they had NO C4... (just a few days back)... strange, but if it's real, that's a deal
but I'll wait before beeing really happy now... enough disappointment!

Re: Frak me, gearlust !!! just bought another stuff... Mackie C4
well, where did you find so cheap C4s ???
(DV247 don't have any C4 more even if it's still on their website)
I'm still waiting for my C4 to be delivered... should be this week, I hope so. (thomann, 375 euros)
4 C4s in your shopping cart, you must be kidding?
I'm not sure I'll be able to upload any useful videos even when I'll receive my C4, I'm sure I'll have some struggle time to insert it in my already-midi-fulfilled-setup...
anyway, I'll use it only as a program surface for my hardware synths, without connecting to ableton live first. Maybe I'll try it as a midi controller for ableton, but that's not the aim of this purchase.
cheers

Well, 4 x C4s for:
2 for controlling ableton
1 for controlling external and internal synths
1 for backup if one of the first three C4s break some day
I found them in a shop in canada...

Re: Frak me, gearlust !!! just bought another stuff... Mackie C4
frak me twice, you"re mad
but you'll get 4 for the price of one unit at the time they were released, great deal!
don't wait for my video mate, C4 units are quickly disappearing from shops these times, if you got the money, just go for it!!!
be aware that C4 are not supported as control surfaces in ableton live, you'll have to use it as standard midi devices, so the screens will be useless in that case.2 for controlling ableton
but If you got max and know how to use it (I don't), you may be able to make patches to use the C4 with Live as a control surface, with everything maybe displayed on the C4 screens, but I really don't know.
Neither I know if max for live allows this...
cheers

of 16 tracks at the same time.
As far as I know you can define what is shown in the LCD by a little program that ships with the C4, right?
I saw a screenshot here in the forum where the Beatrepeat plugin's parameter names are shown in the LCD of a C4.
By the way: to control ableton devices I have the APC40 right on my desk.

It works with MaxMsp :

But will lack of sysex in m4l be a showstopper?

Re: Frak me, gearlust !!! just bought another stuff... Mackie C4
you don't really need sysex to use the mackie as a stnadard midi controller.
but to control hardware synths, you'll need it.
the picture with the beat repeat is something a guy made with max msp I think, or was it a self-made application for PC and live 5 (C4!Live), I can't remember.
the soft provided by mackie for the C4, Commander Pro, may allow you to use provided templates for different hardwares and softwares (oberheims, rolands, NI B4...) but the list is not growing anymore. you can customize existing templates or create new ones, but it's XML programmation, you need all the sysex implementation of the synths.
I don't know if it is easy, say, to make a template for NI Massive (sysex? midi?)
I don't know if you can input the text you need for the lcds, when used as a standard midi controller for live...
I don't know if max for live could do the job, I still don't really know what M4L is capable for "merging software and controllers into new machines"...
so many questions
cheers

So, customizing this max patches to control Live via API will piss on any other midi control solution, even the monodeck IMO.
Would it be possible 2 use two c4s, 1 for live/max instruments and effects, and 1 for the Live app

Re: Frak me, gearlust !!! just bought another stuff... Mackie C4
Is it possible to use the C4 as a standard midi controller and simply have the lcds show the name of the parameter the corresponding knob is assigned to ?
With M4L of course
