i don't see why a bedroom would have gfci

more likely arc fault protection

?

gf is usually around water i.e. bathroom, kitchen counter, outdoors

you are not allowed to use gf on your fridge, btw

Thanks for the good replies, guys - I learned a fair amount from this thread, which is always nice.

Turned out to be a wire that got loose behind the GFCI plug in the bathroom, which was recently replaced when we put in a bathroom fan a few months ago. 30 minutes and no electrocutions later, got it figured out and put back together, everything is back to working again, for free.

Again, thanks for the info, and I do recommend people to get GFCI plugs around their sinks, for sure - it probably saved me getting killed, which, again, is always nice.

Any receptacle within 6 feet of a water source needs to be GFCI protected. Can't go wrong.
