yep..with round buttons with real multicolour leds that do 126 different colours...

small round buttons because girl fingers dont need it so big..

and the knobs have a rounded surface so even wookies can operate them without double trigger..

and mini faders like in a 707.. thats enough for live.. with led dots..like in a graphic equalizer...

ok..maybe 60 mm faders like in the apc... but closer spaced.. like on a compact analog desk ...

And this all in a 12x8 or 16 x10 matrix.. with 12 or 16 of the small faders

not enough potentiometers for me
I don't have 8 arms, but I need to see all under my eyes without pushing a sub-sub menu button

please, can you add 100 potentiometers 8O

nice design!
we could plan to design/build it with midibox framework, couldn't we ?
if I could help, I'd do!

if I had time, I'd really like to build it with midibox framework!
handling rgb leds, buttons, ribbon controller, pad and encoders is REALLY easy.
in this kind of hardware, the brain could be inside, but the best thing to do: using max/max for live as the brain.
so the hardware is really easy to handle.

I think it's still missing something...

As Ben_Binary noted:
where are the 4x4 MPC Pads ?

Also. why both touchstrips are horizontal?
I'd like at least one vertical!
Oh, and wouldn't you like led feedback near these strips?

Same goes for some of the potentiometers...
why don't put some of them in a channel_strip/analog_mixer config...
i.e. instead of having banks of 8 (4*2 or 2*4) on the right side,
let's put four, six or eight above every channel...
that way, when you have them configured per track
they are already ergonomically mapped to the track...
when you use them in a more general or device specific configuration
it's still more easy, ergonomically speaking, to detach them mentally
from their track related positioning. :|

Also, why so many controls above the crossfader, are they really needed?
especially when you have a lot of per track buttons... and eventually potentiometers

Why don't insert another row, like the scene launch one, but above or under,
like launchpad's one that have the user mode selection buttons in it?

I understand why the area around the pads needs to have some space instead of buttons...
but still it's seem the only area left for some global buttons (like the ones related to
transport functions: MIDI_Overdub, PunchIn, PunchOut, Global Play, Global Stop, etc...)

I do like the bottom left section, especially the two tiny buttons under the pots, but also
this ones can be arranged on the side of a x_track group of controls

I do like the compact 32 step sequencer section. 8)

I'm sure that if costs $200 it will cost €200...
without considering where it is actually produced, how it is distributed...

@julienb
even managing to build something like that with an hardware framework...
will it ever be similar to the one rendered by juanSOLO?
It's difficult to make something like this without some kind of industrial
production at least of the front panel. Don't get me wrong, the monomes, the livid's
and your protodeck are all beautifully crafted, but they don't cost 200 (euro or dollar you choose...)

I want to just
wave my hands in the air...
wave'em like I just don't care...

but with the software doing what I'm thinking it should do...

@halley: if you want to sell it, indeed it could be hard. but you can do it for yourself, it is a nice diy project.
you can use recycled metal from old computer box tower for instance.
for the psu, you can recycle a lot of things too.

indeed, it wouldn't be with the ableton logos, and all the plans/pcbs and especially the firmware would be available :D

it all depends on what you would like to do.

indeed, I may be a little off topic, so...
sorry
