Dusty Kid shows leaked Ableton Live controller for Lemur
Dusty Kid shows leaked Ableton Live controller for Lemur
check out this leaked video that illustrates the Lemur's new clip launcher and M4L integration. Look for more to come in the next week or so... Supposedly the M4L implementation of the Lemur is going to be really sick!

it would be foolish not to get an iPad instead.

cool but he looks like he has an atm machine on his lap,
does that really make you feel like you want to make music?

Maybe it doesn't look good on stage, but id love it in the studio as a control surface! I wouldn't bring it on gigs, id bring something like the Launchpad and Nanos.starving student wrote:cool but he looks like he has an atm machine on his lap,

2 iPads under the screen, 16channels session view, mmmm.

was there something stopping you from launching a clip via the lemur previously?

Re: Dusty Kid shows leaked Ableton Live controller for Lemur
no, but they try to integrate more directly with ableton live.longjohns wrote:was there something stopping you from launching a clip via the lemur previously?
so new would be a "clip-grid" object, that directly maps to a region of clips in live, and reads out the clip-names, maps to launch directly, and is even scrollable.
all doable by hand, but much more easy that way, of course.
if you have a lemur, all you need now is a software update, draw a rectangle, and you have more or less an apc40 or launchpad++ anyone wants my launchpad?

Re: Dusty Kid shows leaked Ableton Live controller for Lemur
for a little bit there i planned on selling my lemur to purchase a pair of ipads then i heard the rumors of the lemur/M4L goodies coming soon
everyone seems to be talking about the clip launcher which i could really careless
what is much more exciting to me is the ability to create and remove objects on the lemur via M4L, previous to this the only way to create and remove objects during live use was very intensive and now its going to be relatively easy
the lemur has the ability to do very complex things today and even more in the near future, i have not seen anything complex done in touchOSC
a lot of people have been throwing back and forth technical specs of the ipad and lemur showing that one is better than the other and using this as the basis of the debate
but when it comes to software it seems that people think they are equal when they are not and to make up for this inequality you hear, the ipad will have a comparable app in a year which is pure speculation

indeed, i don't care much about the cliplauncher, but it would be nice as some starting point (i'm consider sort of, having a small clipgrid just for an individual tracks loops and samples, and tons of sliders and buttons and knobs and xy pads around for realtime playing, and then being able to switch from one track to the next with the left and right arrow buttons on the lemur.zalo wrote:for a little bit there i planned on selling my lemur to purchase a pair of ipads then i heard the rumors of the lemur/M4L goodies coming soon

I try and stay out of the whole iPad/Lemur debate. I have not seen the iPad to make a judgement on the device yet. I can give you my opinion on the Lemur because I own one.Tone Deft wrote:bailing water on the Titanic.
technog0d - what's your view on the iPad vs. the Lemur?
I think the two things you have to consider are hardware and software.
Hardware:
The Lemur is VERY rugged - The case is all metal and the touchscreen is practically indestructible.
Multi finger Multitouch
Network connected through 10/100 interface
Software:
This is really the big part. It is true that other companies may be able to replicate the functionality of the Lemur in time, but it could take a while.
Here are some of the features:
- Multitouch interface with lots of widgets
- The ability to define physics so that widgets can move on their own
- Scripting so that you can define interactions between widgets and controls right on the Lemur (You can make whole programs on the Lemur and output Midi or OSC)
- Midi and OSC support out of the box
Future rumored features:
Integrated Live Clip Launcher
Integrated M4L support
Again, I am not looking to debate this issue. I think a lot of people will have different beliefs coming in. I have had a Lemur for quite a while and I personally love it. I think you should use what you like. But, definitely don't rule out the Lemur if you haven't tried it.
Here is a recent video that is part of a multipart series that I just started. This video illustrates some of the features that the Lemur has and how the Lemur works.

Re: Dusty Kid shows leaked Ableton Live controller for Lemur
would be cool if it would be lower (much lower.. 700$ would be sweet). they would sell much more. but they're a small company, not capable of actually producing much more right now.orgul wrote:they want 2000 bucks for that thing....
some big company should buy them. ableton, get them, and implement their interface as "stage view", with the device as an ableton extension. it would be awesome (but let dexter alive for other DAWs).
i got mine for 1400$ on ebay. there are lower prices findable.. but it sure is a lot of money..
