External F(x) Box

Lately, I've heard many techno/tech-house sets which feature an external standalone f(x) unit to mangle the sound. Joris Voorn uses it extensively on his SQ Klub mix from December 2009. It almost sounds like a combination of insane flanger and grain delay.

Magda uses a similar unit, witnessed it when she played at Muse in DC a few months back. I cannot remember the name of it. It is roughly the size of a Korg Electribe and she said it costs ~$500? It wasn't a Kaos pad or a 19" rack mount unit.

No it wasn't the Pioneer Efx-500 either. I had that one years ago. This is not a "Pioneer" type effect... it is unique unto its own. The box doesn't have a jogdial(s).

i was gonna say the efx-500 also.. but if that's not it, another box i use although it's made for guitar but people use for other stuff is the Adrenalinn III box..

@ nux... that seems closer to what it was (or may be what it was). it only had one LED on it for BPM or Effect Amount. is there a youtube video or similar out there showing this effects box at work?

bunch of videos here but they really only show guitar tricks but believe me, all the effects are beat synced and with the different amp models and such, it's a pretty crazy box.. i use the sends of my mixer to the efx 500 and to this box.. it's nuts.. if your going to get one.. get a used version 1 or 2 online.. i got mine for I think $60 for the version 2.. then just get the upgrade chip online for $100.. but they also make this box in software version now but I don't know much about it..
