LPK25 arpeggiator sync?
LPK25 arpeggiator sync?
I just got the LPK25, but can't seem to sync it properly with Ableton when recording arpeggiated notes.
I have set the LPKs midi clock to external.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Advice : use ableton's arpeggiator instead !

But can you record that as midi notes?
And what's your advice if I want to use the note repeat feature on my MPD18? That can't , as far as I know, be replicated in Live?
thank you for responding

Absolutely, you can record the output of live's arp as a midi file.Kasette wrote:But can you record that as midi notes?

in session view I would set up one midi channel with my midi devices, in this case that would be the arp, and send the midi to another midi channel which is hosting the virtual instrument - and where I would record clips as I please.
There's a drop-down menu on each channel asking you where to send audio/midi, and where to receive it from. Make sure you arm the track you want to record on.
makes sense?
This is very basic stuff, I strongly suggest you read the manual from front to back and go through the lessons included with live if you haven't already... that will teach you pretty much every technical operation you need to know. when you've finished with that, ask more questions here (and you'll be better equipped to understand responses) and check out the tips n tricks section of the forum for inspiration...
I haven't used the akai drumpads, but in theory it's just sending midi - so ya, it should be no problem to record the note-repeat output as midi.

I'm having trouble with this too. I'll adjust the midi clock sync delay and get the arp lined up, but if I change the arp rate, it goes out of sync. Then, after a while, the arp won't work at all and you have to power cycle the lpk. I guess akai needs to update the drivers? This is maddening!
Btw, you would use the live's arpeggiator to recreate the mpd note repeat, or you could practice practice practice!

Re: LPK25 arpeggiator sync?
I have the same issue as well.
Firstly, I set the LPK25 to external sync and set Live to send MIDI to the LPK25. All works fine, as the LPK25 receives MIDI sync from Live and sends back arpeggiated notes. As I change tempos in Live, the LPK25 adjusts the tempo of its arpeggiations accordingly.
Then, all of a sudden, it stops. The only way to get it to start sending arpeggiated notes again is to power cycle the LPK25.
If others are having this same issue, how can we notify Akai of this? The LPK25 may be in need of a firmware update.
(By the way, I know Live has an arpeggiator and all that. But this thread is about the arpeggiator in the LPK25, and that it seems to have an issue.)

Re: LPK25 arpeggiator sync?
Bump.
This does indeed appear to be a solid issue.
The arp sync will drop out and it can't be brought back without a power cycle. I guess I'll be contacting Akai support.

Re: LPK25 arpeggiator sync?
I've just bought an LPK25 and I can't get the arpeggiator to work at all! As soon as I press the arp on button, nothing. No sound at all. Not even a single note. Any clues?
Re: LPK25 arpeggiator sync?
ehm is there a solution yet??
Re: LPK25 arpeggiator sync?
+1 !!
Same issue here. Does it work for anyone? Any versions of Live/OS?
This is my favorite (only?) special feature on the device!
Help!

Re: LPK25 arpeggiator sync?
i have had the same issue with my mpk49. for me, the note repeat and arp only works tight and without any problems through the midi ports - midi over usb never did it for me, but the lpk25 don't have midi ports so you have to stick with it...
Re: LPK25 arpeggiator sync?
In my experience, it worked when the sequencer was running (which makes sense but was a bit annoying) i.e., when "play" was activated.

Re: LPK25 arpeggiator sync?
for mpk mini (but i think work for all) press the arrow in output midi and select PATTERN in type block midi
work for me,
with SONG selected before, arp stop to work, and return to play only when i reinsert the usb, then, mute after press stop.
