It's all good and well worth knowing as much theory as you can handle. Just remember to forget it sometimes and listen to the sound of what you're hearing, and being aware on more than a theoretical/cerebral level of what you're experiencing.
Names and numbers are cool, but music is more that just that.
Oh, and rules are made to be broken after all. Learn them so you can.
