Amplitube + Live 7 = SUCK!

Post by sowhoso » Fri Mar 05, 2010 9:52 pm

any time i use one of the IKMM Amplitube plugins in Live I get constant crashes. They work, but tweaking them makes Live crash. Sometimes just opening the gui causes a crash

is it just a local thing or do others have this problem?

no problems here, amplitube 3, win 7 x64, 8.1.2b6.

try running with the latest beta so if it crashes you can send in the crash report file. :)

I've also been having problems.

Live 7.0.18
Amplitube 3.0
WinXP 32 bit
2.88gHz Core Quad, 4GB RAM
Fireface 400 w/latest drivers+firmware
EDIROL PCR-500 control surface

I've had five crashes in about 10-15 hours of use, most of the time Live just drops me back to the desktop with no error message or anything. Once or twice it's happened while clicking around in the GUI, the other times have been when just playing through it, not interacting with the program otherwise.

EDIT: and about 3 more crashes within a couple hours of posting this.

I have most of IK's software and they are consistently unstable (at least in my experience using them previously in Cubase 5).

I don't really expect Amplitube 3 or the upcoming SampleTank 3 to be any more stable then their other products. I would imagine they still have the same underlying dodgy code holding everything together.

It's funny because the old T-Racks plug-in never gives me any problems..but the new super-duper T-Racks 3 Deluxe is just as unstable as the Amplitube/SampleTank products. :|
I've heard stories about IK Support giving the old "Hey it works here in our office so you must be dumb" response to a wide variety of complaints..

Oh well, I'm grateful for the freebies I got from them at least but I wont be giving them any more money.

Unfortunately it looks like the plugin is just as unstable in Sonar 8. At least Sonar wrote a crash dump, which I sent to IK.

I think Reaper is the only app I've come across where just about every plugin works even in the 64bit version.
