It's been about a year since Live came out, so 2.0 would be a logical move. I doubt that VSTi support will be part of it, judging from the statements made by various Abletonvolks - unless they were misleading us.
Perhaps it'll be a beta of 2.0...

Well, I just hope we get some or all of the following:
-- sound quality bug fixes
-- more flexible sound I/O routing options
-- multiple sound adapter support
-- performance increases in plug-ins and Live environment
-- bug fixes in plug-ins
-- VSTi hosting would be nice but not essential
-- little usability detail enhancements with file management through Live environment and menus
-- bug fixes with Rewire clients
-- MP3 import would be nice but not essential
-- bug fixes with OS X compatibility (bundle handling)
-- 'memory' of plug-in states
-- timestretching algorithm quality improvements and ability to disable beat-matching and stretching
-- ability to control clip parameters (transpose, etc.), tempo, and other object attributes not currently controllable, using keyboard or MIDI events
-- RAM caching of sound clips to reduce hard drive I/O
-- template management
-- AppleScript support (or internal scripting support, or "MIDI" clips that fire scripted events on periodic basis)
All of that, plus a set of new skins, may take some time.
It hasn't been a few months yet since 1.5, so if 2.0 is around the corner, then they must have really been busy.
Here's hoping 2.0 rocks...
