MAC Pro or PC for a DAW?

I've been saving up my money to purchase a new computer and I can't decide on buying a PC or a MAC PRO. I want to use it primarily as a DAW and for photo-editing. I will also be writing documents using MS OFFICE for MAC. Last but not least I will be using the Internet. I've read where PC's should have two to three hard drives when using the computer as a DAW. There are three computer companies that make pc DAW's that have two or three drives in them. Nowhere have I read this about MAC's needing two or three hard drives. Upon some research I noticed that Apple's Logic 9 software doesn't seem to require two or three hard drives for their MAC pros. I'd like to hear everyone's opinions on what I should purchase. I plan to do some recording at home as well as use the computer to play back horn sections or organ parts/solos along with my blues band. One of my friends asked me how much multi-tracking am I going to do. I have no idea. On my keyboard sequencers I would use up to 12 or more tracks. Sometimes I place little snippets of music to fill in certain places on my songs.

I'd love to hear from everyone out there. Thank you for your time and advice/opinions.

Yeah, what Heavensdaw said. If you can afford it, definitely get a Mac. My next upgrade will be an Apple. Besides, if you ever need PC functionality software-wise, you can always
dual boot into Windows with Boot Camp or use Parallels and run Windows inside your Mac.

Mac or PC makes virtually no difference.
The drives thing is not true anymore.
Of course you can have OS on one drive, samples on another drive and music on another drive
and that will boost performance but drives needs to be on different channels.
I have one in my iMac and I'm happy.
There's no better choice than the one you can afford and the one you like.
With the cost of a Mac Pro you can have an incredible Windows Machine.
However, I like Macs.

Truth. Its just a matter of preference at this point. Each has their advantages

glowing fruit doesn't make you any cooler. Its what you do with the glowing fruit box or the window(s) frame that counts. in a blind test you can't tell the difference between a track made on one or the other.

I don't want to get into an argument with any one regarding this, as it is a touchy topic, I don't use my DAW computer (mac) on the net full stop, that's my safety net, but why would apple suggest you don't need it then?

Anti Virus on a Mac can help prevent you from spreading viruses to vulnerable PCs.

For the time being, there are virtually no viruses that target Macs effectively. As Apple gains market share the Macs will increasingly run the risk of becoming targets.

Eventually we may all need anti-virus, but for now Macs are relatively safe.

what people tend to forget...

the miditiming is the factor 10 better on a mac.. so for people that use hardware drummachines or samplers/synth there is not much of a question there...


And.. on a mac you can run windows ..either emulated or native...

I know some people that are sworn in pc users that are on apple hardware now because they found it more stable, silent and nice and in relation also a good price value in relation to a similar build high end pc.


Seems that the apple mainbords are good PC mainboards aswell theese days..
like allways with apple not on the bleeding edge of technology..but therfore more stable...

And more than fast enough for music anyway...
