automation disabled?

I got this greyed automation from time to time, I don't know how I disactivated them, it happened with the tempo track and now with some filter. Didn't find it in the manual or on this forum.
I got a pic but don't seem to be able to upload it now, so the result is, for exemple, the tempo box would be grayed out, with a little grey cross in it.

but, one question remains, how come this switched to the session playback as I worked exclusively in the arrange window? necer switched to the other view?

up, th automation automatically was deactivated every time i reopen the project. i don't want to push everytime the orange arrow.. what i have to do? thank you

Worth reading the thread - "back to arrangement" mentioned in 2nd post

Probably also worth reading the manual from front to back too. Would certainly address problems like:
