Now the dust has settled - Upgrade to 4.04 ??

Post by wildcon » Wed Nov 10, 2004 5:58 pm

Hi there,

I've just downloaded the 4.04 update.

I've been trawling through the posts to check on bugs stability etc.

There seem to have been several problems and issues.

I am using 4.03 without any problems. i have recently got NI Komplete2 and have picked up on several issues with Kompact and Kontakt.

What's peoples views on upgrading ??

Apologies if most of this has been covered in previous posts, but now people have had time to look at bug fixes etc, some of the previous issues may no longer be a problem.

Thanks

upgrading

Post by carllarkos » Wed Nov 10, 2004 7:23 pm

My view on upgrading is that it still hasn't solved my problem with v station yet!
Don't get me wrong, i love using live but it would be so much better if i didn't have this "undo cfg" problem because it's driving me nuts.
It's been an on going problem through most of live and i wish they could do an update which sorts it out.

sorry for moaning and i do really like live.

I'm using 4.04 with no problems. I use it in the studio and for live performances. I've seen people talk about instabilities, CPU deficiancy, audio drop outs, but I have not experienced any of those.

i guess it's all relative.

everyone has their own particular set-ups and systems which
produces different behaviours.

i have a bug going on right now that has everybody scratching their heads.

V-Station VST 1.2 works OK for me with 4.04. Had a strange bug happen to me yesterday : when I played a clip, some clips didn't play from their start point on bar 1 but instead form bar 2.

I use V Station a lot - although only in Cubase so far. Could you explain the 'undo cfg' issue. Is this just with 4.04 ?

I remain unconvinced about upgrading - stability is my main concern.

Can i still use version 4.03 once i have upgraded ?

Cheers

you know, you can install the upgrades without deleting the previous version. Then, simply launch the previous version if the new one isn't behaving as hoped, and wait for the next update.

I've been updating from 4.0.1 through 4.0.4... it seems plenty stable here (no crashes, only minor glitches now and then).....

Of course, introducing VSTi plugins is a whole can of worms unto itself, but so far, Live is doing a good job of handling most of them just fine...

Funny, some say stick with 4.0.3 for now, others say get past it immediately and delete it.... I'm on 4.0.4 and everything's fine there.....

just thinking outloud... ;)

peace,

If 4.0.3 works fine for you then I wouldn't bother. But you could always check the list of things addressed in the latest version (in the thread where 4.0.4 was announced, I think) and see if any are relevant. And/or has already been suggested install them both in parallel.

4.0.3. caused me problems.
4.0.4. doesn't.

Your mileage may vary.
