8.1.3 changelog and download problems

Hello,

I am trying to download just announced "ableton_suite_813.dmg" for the third time already. The download fails at some point and I have to restart downloading from zero, because the server apparently does not support resume option. Given the fact that the size of the package is about 1.47GB and it takes quite some time to download the package, I would appreciate it if webadmin took care to make the download process more reliable than what it is now.

Also, what about a changelog for 8.1.3? From someone at Ableton I was lucky to figure that 8.1.3 now supports groups and return channels on APC40/20. Is there a possibility for us to find out more what has been fixed/improved in the new version or is that too much to ask?

Best regards,

Andrejs

I think it's ok to just download the non-suite version if you have previously installed suite.

Hi folks,

Sorry about the slow downloads. It seems our servers are getting hammered right now (which is no excuse.)

I'm looking into it.

Best,

Glad to hear the download is working for you.

For updates that are primarily just bugfixes, we felt that changelogs were actually more confusing than helpful. The only way to know if your specific problem is fixed is to duplicate your exact use case and see if the behavior has changed.

Best,

Maybe the server getting hammered isn't an excuse, but seriously a lot of people have had problems with downloading an Ableton release the day it's released and a handful of people always have to post about it. Pipe down people, this is the way of the Internet. You've waited over a year for a stable version of Live (for some people). Another day or 2 for download activity to slow down isn't going to kill you.

For a good download manager, try DownThemAll. It's a Firefox extension that's free and works on Mac/Linux/Windows.

Edit: although I can't say if the download would fail when using it as I'm mid way through the process.

Why don´t you put the download on as a torrent (not sure if that´s said correct) but i like OpenOffice which can be downloaded really fast via the torrent thing.

BTW:
WOHOOO!!!! Best tuesday ever :D I always get sooo excited by Live updates (not betas  )
