hardware device reflecting looper's state?

Post by peeddrroo » Mon Apr 26, 2010 9:56 am

does such a thing exist?
i'd like to have a device that displays what's going on inside a looper instance: for instance having a launchpad button that goes green/red/orange depending if looper is playing/recording/overdubbing, or having a remoteSL button that is lit or blinking...
is there a way to do this? maybe with m4l?
even better would be to have a pedal that achieves this.

any input appreciated!
thx

Been looking a long time for the same thing.
M4L is probably the way to go.
I made something in Bomes midi translator that works ok for me. I basically tell bomes to send a midi message to a specific light on my midi controller when I press one of the buttons mapped to the looper. I spent 3 days messing with Bomes to make it work.

Thats all I know.

paste this into a max audio effect.
put it before the looper in question.

8O Really??
Could you pretty-pretty-pretty-please make a short step-by-step tut aswell?
I have no idea how to "paste this into a max audio effect"..

I promise I´ll dive into m4l very soon  Cross my heart!

1.copy the max text from my post .
2.paste it into an empty max-patch (audio effect) .
3.save it .
4.put it before a looper and it'll refelct that loopers state

currently it's mappable to 1 button/knob but I'll expand it to 4 buttons for the sake of 4 seperate buttons

here's one more button friendly version...
you can set it as well..
put this before the looper you want to control
map 4 buttons on the launchpad to the buttons on the device...also allows controlling the looper

should also mention that this doesn't work within racks... because of m4l API limitations

so you have 4 buttons right? play, record, overdub and stop?

would it be possible to have only 1 button, the big one, mapped to a single launchpad button that would change colour accordingly?
do you see what i mean?
