Re: APC40 KILLER
Nope. I've got touchable and it's cool, but still no APC40 killer. The only thing that could kill an APC40 would be one with little lcd screens or something. Actually I don't even really care. I used to think that no screen was a big disadvantage but as Tone Deft once said to me "That's what the computer screen is for". And I thought by golly he's right! I can look at the laptop screen while using the APC40.humnumb wrote:Guys, the true APC40 KILLER thread is over here:

The APC40 and touchable just can't even be compared (although you'd think they can) because they feel so different. The APC40 is a performance interface. It has big buttons to jab at and nice big solid knobs and faders. It's perfect for playing back pre-arranged loops or looping instruments on the fly that are set up. An ipad is a more delicate feeling piece of glass that lets you do way more, but I'm sorry it doesn't feel like a button mashing, knob twisting performance tool. I will say this though, the fact that you can have an ableton set at your desktop computer and be sitting on your couche with nothing more than an ipad and have almost complete control of your set wirelessly is just awesome. Still doesn't replace an APC40.

I know you've all seen this but has anybody actually tried out a comparison between the feel of this and the apc-40?

As much as I love Maschine, I can't imagine using it for control of ableton would be anywhere near as useful as an APC40. You have 4 tracks of 4 clips in view at a time and 8 knobs as opposed to 8 tracks of 5 clips at a time, with sends, volumes and device controls at the same time. Looking at the APC40 is like looking at Ableton Live screen when there are 8 tracks and 3 sends.starving student wrote:I know you've all seen this but has anybody actually tried out a comparison between the feel of this and the apc-40?

8 sends + 1 device control, or 2 device controls with Native Kontrols APC presets.glitchrock-buddha wrote:Looking at the APC40 is like looking at Ableton Live screen when there are 8 tracks and 3 sends.

Right, I've been meaning to check that out, but I don't mind the default functionality.ze2be wrote:8 sends + 1 device control, or 2 device controls with Native Kontrols APC presets.glitchrock-buddha wrote:Looking at the APC40 is like looking at Ableton Live screen when there are 8 tracks and 3 sends.

Maschine is not so much an APC40 Killer. I see it more as Live's Session View Killer. It has completely replaced Live as my compositional tool.
