Ableton 7 Tracks PC to Ableton 8 Suite Mac

Finally bought 8 suite!!

However....lol

I put my old tracks made in 7 (pc) on a usb, transferred to my mbp....
but, when i open my 7 files on my mbp in 8, no sound is output!!!
Audio levels are reading, but no sound...

Bueller?

I have done it several times without problems.
Library should be identical on the PC and on the Mac.
Some questions:

1. Is Live complaining about missing presets/sample/instruments (look at the bottom area of Live Window)?
2. Have you setup audio in Live Preferences on the Mac
3. What soundcard you're using (Internal/External)
4. Is sound possible from iTunes?

Is quite likely that either routing, monitoring, or a plugin isn't set right in the transfer.

1) No
2) No, but sound is output fine when I make new stuff. It just won't output any sound when I load my old stuff.
3) Internal
4) Yes, everything other than old live sets output sound.

However, I use a sidechain VST in my old file, which doesn't transfer over (obviously). But not even the tracks without the VST output sound.


I clicked hot swap on one of the instruments from my old set, and it didn't find it in the browser. (normally when you click hotswap, the instrument will be highlighted in the browser).

Sounds like (sorry for the pun) you have some instrument missing or audio routing problem.

1) Check that you have installed all the instruments you need
2) SJ was right about audio routing stuff. Live retains routing in the Sets.
If they were made with a different sound card those I/O are grayed out. Check
if you have grayed out objects in the I/O section of the Tracks.
3) If the above is right, replace the I/O destination with existing ones
4) Let us know if this fix
