fine adjustment of tempo using x-session

Post by nuperspective » Mon Nov 15, 2004 12:50 pm

Hi

whats the best way to make fine tempo adjustments when using live to dj with. i have assigned the tempo to a knob on the x-session, but the steps are to large [2/3 bpm jumps]. is there a way to make this smoother? i noticed there are midi options when you select [absolute etc] can anyone explain how these work?

cheers

xsession tempo stuff

First thing you need to do is go to the arrange page, down to the master section and assign what your tempo range needs to be. i think by default it's 60 -200 bpm which would cause the big jumps. if you are mixing into cd or vinyl you need to find out what roughly the tempo is(cdj 1000's display it) then set the range 1 or 2 bpm either side. if my cdj reads 127 bpm i set the range from 126-128. then you can easily ride stuff in. as for the settings for midi controllers i'm not 100% what they are for... i think they are for different kinds of controllers on the market. as for the xsession you can just leave those settings alone, the default works.
