most people don't play live.

No, I wouldn't want to try at this point in the game.
Had big plans to utilize it within the context of my band, but it seems to know whenever I go somewhere else other than the home studio and acts up like a retarded child.
How does it know!
Fingers crossed for a stable version.
I bought into the whole Live package (suite, max, APC 40 lots of 3rd party stuff relevant to Live), guess I've committed myself to see this through but at least at home I can always restart the program.

I would answer yes and no. i.e. I have gone back to using 7 when I play live, which is super stable (for me)

Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
I've used Live live many times - both in conjunction with a live band and straight up as a dj - other people who I work with use it too. I don't feel completely comfortable, but that's always the case with anything that plugs in. If you're DJing and by yourself, have an ipod ready as insurance. I'd rather have an awkward, random transition than a moment of complete silence.
Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
I've used it a lot on stage. I've had one failure, but I attributed it to my Macbook Pro (overheating) and not to Live.
I stay away from 3d party plug-ins when using it Live. I think this helps tremendously in keeping it stable and light.

Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
i can't remember the last time live crashed on me while performing live, glitchs, crackles, pops ya.. but that is mostly due to how hard i push the MBP
and some VSTs that are having issues

Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
been using live 8 through it's various iterations since one year, and had no crash live. I trust it.
What I wouldn't do during liveshows:
- drag livesets or clips including instruments from the browser into the playing set - sometimes crashes or hanging
- press the global record button (as I have lots of midi-cc-data coming in from the wii and elsewhere, that's too much for my little macbook - crash or hanging after a couple of minutes
- use looper while being midi-sync-slave - horrible noise
Ah, and I nearly don't use any 3rd party vst's (only some livecut and a pitch-plug, everything else is native)
But you should be prepared for a crash anyways, as all cumpoters suck and do horrible stuff sometimes. The last big thing we did was a score for a danceplay in a theatre with 500 people. so we had Live running live and a CD with a rendered version of the set as back up running parallel.
On liveshows we usually play with two computers, and if one crashes, then the other one can improvise. As I said, mine did not crashever, while my partner has always issues. But I believe they are related to his ridiculously bloated live set (he uses like 58 channels and 12 return channels, and everything is full of racks and strange routing tricks).

Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
definitely, no matter what, if you consider yourself professional you always have to have a backup in your pocket, an iPod or CD can be enough to overcome any eventual restart or fix.pepezabala wrote:)But you should be prepared for a crash anyways, as all cumpoters suck and do horrible stuff sometimes. Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
voted "NO", but running live 7.0.18
sometimes it crashes, but, interestingly, NEVER when I play live... (live 6 , and now 7, never crashed for me in a live situation, since 3 years of use and about 25 live shows... (amateur side))
it's allways when opening / deleting VSTs when composing, and it's really rare.
cheers
