generic as hell midi controller
is there such a thing as 2 or 3 octave keyboard that literally looks like nothing but a keyboard? aftertouch would also be necessary. looking for something with very few knobs/buttons/faders.
the guys keyboard here on the desk maybe?

This keyboard may have a few more knobs than you want, but the knobs are small and (in my opinion) don't detract from it looking like a keyboard. It does have aftertouch, is nice to play, and isn't particularly expensive.greenscreens wrote:is there such a thing as 2 or 3 octave keyboard that literally looks like nothing but a keyboard? aftertouch would also be necessary. looking for something with very few knobs/buttons/faders.
It isn't hard to come up with an instant mapping file that actually makes the knobs useful with Live. I have mine mapped so that one row controls track volumes for tracks 1-8 and the other maps to the current device's macro controls.

Here's a link to that keyboard model if you're interested: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=126675greenscreens wrote:the guys keyboard here on the desk maybe?

miditech i2 garagekey
Re: generic as hell midi controller
There's the LPK25 but its only two octaves
and the Cakewalk/Edirol A500S which has 49 keys and takes up too much space
3 octaves in a slim compact form factor would be just right for my needs, like GarageKey:
but its full size keys takes up a lot more space than I would like, and it has these weird legs underneath, and the deal breaker is that the octave buttons are on the back:
Wish someone would make a 37 version of the LPK25.

It looks like the Cakewalk A500S is just a rebranded/repainted version of that. A 37-key version would be better.1ino1eum wrote:Edirol PC-50

Re: generic as hell midi controller
isnt the lpk mini keys? does the miditech keyboard have a midi output or only USB? i would like to use it without a computer if possible. pressure/aftertouch would be the bonus.delicioso wrote:There's the LPK25 but its only two octaves

the LPK would be awesome if it had a midi output as well as a usb output
Re: generic as hell midi controller
yeah, I don't mind mini keys at all. You probably want to look at Edirols for midi ports.greenscreens wrote:isnt the lpk mini keys? does the miditech keyboard have a midi output or only USB? i would like to use it without a computer if possible. pressure/aftertouch would be the bonus.
