Thought's on Ableton's Sampler (vs kontakt and others)

Does anyone have an opinion on Live's Sampler? Is it worth it? I've started to wonder if its full integration into Live gives it the upper hand as opposed to a separate plugin. Your thoughts?

It does everything i have wanted a sampler to do and a hell of a lot more. No doubt kontakt and others have unique features but not enough to make me want to go out and buy a sampler plugin anytime soon,

It's my favorite sampler for building my own stuff, I also own Kontakt, which for me is much more about the library content, I never use it to build things, sampler is just much more streamlined and approachable, not to mention feels so integrated into live. I also have EXS24 in logic but don't like the interface there at all. If you want large quality library content than kontakt is great....

call me a simple guy but Simpler does what I want it to do and has less menus so i get my ideas down quicker.

Sampler to me is almost overkill, lol.

I got sucked into 'needing' every plugin going a few years back with protools, i ended up buying kontakt and only ever using the preset instruments, that was most definately overkill!
Sampler seems so intuitive to me compared to others, it makes me want to get under the bonnet and experiment.

I felt the same way, until I bought Nick's Tutorials. Now I'm right at home with Sampler.

What are these "Nick's Tutorials"?

Also, sounds like Sampler is worth it. Thanks.

I'd go so far as to say Sampler made Live come alive for me. I demo'd Kontakt and its amazing but there's so many parameters its a little overwhelming. Sampler's interface is super clean and usable but there's some powerful features there. Lately I've been sampling my Reaktor ensembles and creating Sampler instruments and just taking advantage of the simple interface.

the fact that you can drag and drop any audio files from the arrange/session direct into sampler is the winner for me.
makes for a fast workflow wrt sampling. the lfo's etc are straight forward enough to get into the sound.
i have kontakt3 as well, but use it mainly for the sample sounds bundled with it, which are great.
i've set up some samples in kontakt before, and it just seemed like a process (even though it has great features, fx routing etc.)
imho

i like the ableton sampler... best midway between kontakt-flagship and the simpler.
easy to use and flexible enough for most needs - and it let you open and edit all sounds of the library.
negative side is, that you can only use it in live.

Yeah, I've been trying out Kontakt lately and I'm shocked at how unfriendly it is and how you can't easily create new instruments in a straight forward manner. It's become clear that NI makes most of their money off of the sample banks with regard to Kontakt. That software doesn't seem like it was designed for creating new instruments.

Yes, Sampler.
