The first company making this possible in their OS will be my choice...

i seriously call you a LIAR!

in a bit over 20 years that never happened once for real around me, and of course i only know people who have zero clue about computers and windows systems working with audio for a living

jeez not even my friends working in IT support for HP and Dell claim that! (and they have zero to do with audio computer systems, they only work for business systems)

and they all have and use privately macs, because of OSX, btw

what you claim is the same sort of lie, like saying OSX NEVER crashes
I also install Windows and my drivers for audio and video.
Then comes my audio software and I'm good to go...

But I must also say, that this works only if you choose the right configuration inside the PC.
Intel-chips with ASUS-Motherboard always works or me, and for a smooth run I use RAM from Corsair !!!

If you try to buy the cheaper parts, you'll end up with instability and crashes every few minutes.

USB 3 sure seems like it will became popular

I have been checking the laptops at http://www.notebookcheck.net/

Almost all of their latest (although higher end) reviews models does bring USB 3,. almost none of them does have FW...

I just wish HW companys realized that a just bring USB 3 interfaces, but some of the nice ones still are on USB 1.1 (focusrite, Presonus, Line6...).

There will be a long, long wait...

Although there is a lot of nice USB2 interfaces with 8 inpust and low latency, Line6 , Roland, Tascam, Motu, RME...

the new flagship RME model is USB3 compatible, costs a bit mind but will be worth it, their products are superb.

Why is this a problem? USB 1 is plenty fast for a small number of audio channels.

usb will just remain as commercial interface, the new substitute for FW will be the coming optical port for low latency audio. in 3 years all workstation notebooks will have optical port.

You could get higher qualitity like 192Khz and the such (see E-MU or NI USB products).

also fireface is usb 3 compatible. no need for higher speed, it uses 20% of data bandwidth on usb2, dig? and does not uses usb class compliant driver cause it`s shit, same like usb 3 driver, dig? rme and similar already have the max performance, on optical the latency will go less a little more than 0,5ms, so they have not much interest to rush into this. latency will remain around safety buffer + converter latency, where we are about now on fireface uc. so understand this bollocks wisdom yet and start makin music - any soundcard will do for that... you can not catch the time, guys.
