Sonar X1 looks way way better:

We can only hope Live gets close to this on version 10. Live with the same functions would look much better then Sonar though: Slim and tight vektor graphics, instead of thick scrollbar frames that eats up and creates gui noise. And all those menues looks confusing.

I'm learning reaper (i think it's the most amazing daw and the customization level is enorm too for 50€),
but if somebody tries it quick I'm sure you won't like it
hehe
Reaper is deeper than the "Mariannengraben"

Looks great, have to try the demo!!
(Cubase 6 doesn't have demo that sucks!!!
)... Sonar X1 I think I'm going to try it too, what I think is great about Cubase is not only it great features, but the GUI, it looks gorgeous!.. it makes you want to produce by looking at it!

Well.. im going to be the underdog and stick with Live 8 a few more years, even though other DAWs now are taking the lead. Or so it seems.. The vector gui in Live got me adicted. And I have years of work, creating tools and templates for it. So im going to work faster with this then any other DAW for a good while. I might even upgrade to Live 9, when the 12 months open beta period is over.
(when the bugs are ironed out)

Live 9 is going to have to be amazing, if Ableton want to convince me to keep working with it.
And not move to this.

After 6 months of NanoStudio use, the fasination has slowed down. Im very comfortable in Live. The developer of NS are not going to take it much further. Hes going to add eqs, audio tracks and compressors hopefully this year. But not much more. Have you tried to export tracks individually? They sound like crap. Even full song renders sound worse then direct audio output. I ended up playing directly from the sequencer, on a DJ set recently, because all the renders sounded bad in comperison. Bass was muddy, as well as other stuf.
I dont care if Live 9 isnt super exiting. Im ok with Live 8 + APC for a good while. Come to think about it: the less work they put in L9, the more they can put in Live 10!

Favorite GUI is DP7- skinable like Live, but also the graphics change etc.

Full screenshots. Dude in this thread likes DP7 not in consolidated windows? probably because he's go some monster screen, but all DP windows fit together like Live, not floating unless you want that. <-- personally I like the consolidated look.

Why do I smile
At people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?

God damn. It was barely 2007 when I left Cakewalk. I can't believe it. I jumped that boat before it got ridiculous. I had a meeting with some top producer recently. Told him my story of how I was just barely using Cakewalk a few years ago. He laughed and face-palmed. Perfect response.

That was also the time when I left Cakewalk. But the new version got me thinking, to get the X1 in addition to Live, unless Live 9 covers the need.
