First Release Candidate for Live 8.1.4: Live 8.1.4b3

Post by Amaury » Fri Jun 18, 2010 2:45 pm

Hello,

The current beta version of Live is 8.1.4b3. It is the first Release Candidate for Live 8.1.4

OS X: http://downloads.ableton.com/extra/5839 ... _814b3.dmg
Windows: http://downloads.ableton.com/extra/5839 ... _814b3.zip

Kind regards,
Amaury

--------------------

Bugfixes

- Fixed a rare crash that occurred when opening documents while the mouse moves in certain areas.

- Fixed a crash that occurred when dragging a Live set which contains a sample that has been shortened outside of Live to the Session view, while this sample is already in use in the Arrangement view.

- Fixed an issue where recording clips via the APC 40 wouldn't reflect the launching phase by blinking the button on the APC, nor select the corresponding slot when "Select on Launch" is ON. (http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... 4&start=15)

- Fixed an issue that Configuring a 3rd party plugin, by clicking one of its parameters in the plugin GUI while Configure is ON, would not show the right value for the parameter in the Live GUI of the plugin.

- The APC 40 wouldn't always update its state properly when loading a new Live set.

- Live could hang when Undoing the deleting of a parameter mapping, in the Live GUI of a 3rd party plugin.

- Fixed a crash that occurred when firing a scene while moving a Group Track.

- We now ignore "non automatable" parameters for AU plugins, in terms of assigning them in the Live plugin GUI.

- Fixed a rare crash that could occur when loading a new song or quitting Live while the mouse hovered a Max for Live device.

from my exerience
this RC version is very bad for me (win7x64)..
it crashed 2 times in a row (logs sent).. then I uninstalled
kindof weird as 8.1.3 is pretty solid
and the b2 has it's irritating bugs but is more stable than the RC
..in short I believe something went wrong with this version

yeah..
I tried re-installing it too cuz the "reinstall using recommended settings" popped up... so I thought it would fix it
it didn't
also... one weird thing is that it scanned the vsts again when I ran it first..
I don't remember any Live update that re-scans the vsts..

Windows 7 x64 here - no issues installing or in use

It would be nice to see the change log though, for me nothing is different to the 8.1.4b2 which has fixed issues using the UAD Cambridge vst.

completely unstable for me (crashes after any extended editing within minutes, sometimes even in the middle of playback). as were the previous betas for that matter. hope this gets a bit more usable in the final release. PC?: i7/3gb/XP SP3.

Amo, I will try to send the bug reports. My work computer is not connected to the internet, so it gets a bit cumbersome. More to the point, please realize that it's getting increasingly frustrating to be beta testing the software this late into the release. I understand that these are betas, but the proper releases were never stable for me either. The other night I was working on a deadlined commercial project and decided to give the RC a go, since I needed some of 8's features. After several incredibly frustrating hours with Live literally crashing every 2-3 minutes, I had to give up and recreate the whole thing in Live 7, which I am still using for most of my work. I am not the one to vent on forums, and I use Live every day for 6-8 hours, but at this point I am really hoping you guys can sort this out.
