New computer/ableton install - Audio is glitchy now
I've been using Ableton for a year and a half or so now on my laptop that's just a simple dell dual core machine. I recently got a desktop quad core with more ram and is overall just a better machine in every way possible. In arrangement view when I place audio, sometimes it sounds distorted like the audio levels are too high and it will even pop sometimes. Other times when I place audio it sounds fine. When I export, it also sounds like whatever is in the session, good or bad.
Any ideas what may be causing this? I'm running 8.1.3.
Thanks.

run the DPC latency checker and disable your drivers in control panel device manager one at a time.
Probably a driver, or possibly an IRQ conflict.
What are the computer specs. Which audio card are you running and at what latency.

My audio issues on my PC Quad were solved by changing my video card.

This is totally not unusual at all, video card drivers have a habit of messing up system latency and audio.

The video card is an nvidia geforce gtx 280. I ran the dpc latency checker and disabled it and the screen resolution went to crap but the latency reduced about 50%. A few spikes here and there:
So is the goal here to have it all in the green? Honestly I think the audio is just onboard what's on the motherboard, it's a custom built machine that I bought off a guy from my office, so I'm assuming my next purchase should be a better sound card. What do you guys recommend?
Here's my device manager showing what I figured would probably be the most important stuff:
Thanks for the comments so far and I'm open to any suggestions you may have. I'm great with software but kinda clueless when it comes to hardware.
