Export and mastering

Post by xEndLe » Mon Jun 28, 2010 6:36 pm

Hi,

I am currently producing a new track for a remix contest with Ableton Live.
Unfortunately I realized that the other tracks released for the contest are way better quality than mine..
Clearly they look "professional" and mine amateur.

Is there any configuration to respect before/during the export ? (mastering stuff, equalization, ...)

What should I do ?

Best

is the very strong ducking effect which starts at 0:50 a design element or by accident?

I'd recommend to go to a pro for mixing/mastering if you want to get the best out of it, unless it's an "amateur competition" where no "pro" help is allowed.

you've been pm'ed.

the mix down one is good and important however (and I agree that the loudness war is bad) when one would use a reference track to get their mix down right are we able to correctly reference a track that undoubtably succummed to the loudness war? would that not be a invalid reference?

excuse my giant sentence.

i guess one should locate a track they know to sound excelent but has a normal wave form and not a block of sound.
