8.1.4 - king of stability?

Post by Carl Lofgren » Tue Jul 06, 2010 6:56 pm

Might already start a thread on this.

8.1.3 are old pants now - 8.1.4 is the future.

Less problems than before? Downloading as I write.

I like the fact I only need to download the programme file, big improvement.

+1 for download options. was about time...
I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

>v< - that´s the question today

...the work of production is reduction...

In what case i should download the program only?
Just not sure if the library has been updated somehow and in which case i´d rather would download the big file.

I own Live only, not Operator or any other instrument, so should the 200mb file be good?

EDIT:
Nevermind, found the answer: If you have 8.1.3 installed already, you can use the 200mb installer.

maybe you should run it a while before calling it king of stability?

so we post the problems of 8.14 in this thread now...

at least it dont crashes on launch like the previous beta...

but its actually still pretty unlikely that this is a finaly stable version now... just because its the 14th update?

but we will see

I'm not calling anything anything mister. Plz note the question mark.

The download options are great though. But I do wish Ableton would stop this madness of not being able to load a newer project created in an slightly older version.

Nasty indeed. But it's been like that for ages.

Ha!
2 crashes within 2 minutes.

Good by 8.1.4, hello 8.1.3 again (which runs super stable).

i know... but 14 updates in one year turn that into a real problem.. especially when some older versions was better than the bug fix updates.. or the max for live debakel... 8.10 was the worst of them all...
horrible

As of now, you can open a 8.1.4 project in 8.1.3.
Hope I didn't spoil the release notes for anybody.

thats great... but 8.13 was horrible eitehr..so actually no need to open anything in that version..

runs for over 1 hour now..and no zippery noises on the crossfader...

can actually really be one of the most stable versions yet..usually i come along something within one hour...

but ok.. its just open.. i dont do audio with it ... but still..

hurrray

For me 8.1.4 (beta) feels a bit more stable than 8.1.3. I had problems when closing the GUI window of VST/AU plugins in 8.1.3. This was not on every window close, but multiple times a day. With 8.1.4 beta3 the problem seems to be gone (at least for the days I used it). Didn't tried the final 8.1.4, but I hope it's OK as the beta.
