http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=112868

It has nothing to do with CPU usage or warp modes or warp markers. Fading off a large portion of the clips' ends sometimes muffles out the crackles, but sometimes doesn't (and when it does, it silences so much of the clips that the solution isn't practical). Consolidating or exporting the clips do nothing either. I'm stuck because of this, and I'm increasingly demotivated to use Live.

Has this problem been solved in 8.1.4?
This should be fixed in this update: "- Occasionally, loud clicks could occur when using crossfades in the Arrangement."

A complete changelog is in this thread: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=141021

Please let us know if you still experience these crackles, however.

can this happen with the official versions aswell? what can cause such a behavior when you dont do any new installs?

Are you trying to run two versions at the same time? This has strange consequences, and isn't really recommended to check stability.

no.. its crashing on its own now.. a

And you really need to run 2 versions of live simultaniously..otherwise i dont see a way to work..

You still dont have the option to run 2 sets on one instance... also age old wish for live and pretty essential..

L8 makes much more trouble in this regard..with L7 you was able to drag clips from one instance to the other... now you eed to use the browser :-(

are there any tricks to run 2 instances of the same version?

sofar i allways made use of running an older L8 with a newer one..
but this cant be done anymore without corupting the installation itself?

why would you want to run 2 instances if you cannot drag from one to another?

the 'trick' is to just duplicate the Live app..

I had almost no problems with any version of 8 - until 8.13. Now it won't open at all on Windows, and crashes with some frequency on my Mac.

I hope you're right about 8.14 - but that's what I had heard about 8.13.

Get a PC and then select "Allow Multiple Instances" in the preferences.

Great job on the Live-only download :) Redoing my library and uninstalling all the Live Packs for things I don't have was the worst part of upgrading.

Yes, tell him to buy a completely new computer and OS when all he has to do is duplicate the Live.app - Wow. If it was to that point he could just use BootCamp anyway ;)
I don't 'produce.' I write music.

but isnt the dupülicated app using the same prefferences and othr support files and is that not asking for trouble?

are there any ableton rectified setups here?

and.. why has b2 now decided to crash on launch like the b3 did last week? that is an really interstig new behaviour..
sofar such thing swas allways related to plug in installations.. but ther are none..so what is going on?
and is the offical 8.14 the next on that suddenly will decide t crash on launch?

yes.. but apparently you've been doing that since using 2 different versions is the same..

obsolete discussion since 8.1.4 is now the latest version..

just speculation..

just speculation..

isnt it rather an educated guess?

Dennis DeSantis wrote:Hi folks,- Some users mentioned crashes with 8.1.4. Can you provide more info?

Thanks,

I wrote a mail including 4 Bugreports to bugs AT ableton.com
I also included a list with all Plugin i used in that session and my PC specs.

Seems it happens especially with this one Set in particular, cause when i play other sets Live seems to run stable (no crashes with other sets so far).

8.1.3 and 8.1.4 are both stable on my system. Used to have lots of random crashes for no apparent reason on one version, but I don't know which, and they all disappeared with the last few I installed.
