Possible to do programming for realistic trumpets in Live?

Hi!

In my music I need trumpet sounds, both individual and in a group/session, and I´m looking for a VST-instrument/sample library to do that for me.

I´ve tried the trumpets that come with Kontakt 4, but they unfortunately sound to artifical/synthy for me.

The two products I have in mind to help me are
- "Trumpet" from Samplemodeling, http://www.samplemodeling.com/en/products.php. Samplemodeling depends heavily on a expression pedal/breath controller to work. (It´s possible to program in a sequencer, too, though.)
- "Screaming trumpet" from Warp IV, http://www.warpivmusic.com/. AFAIK Warp IV don´t come with expression pedal/breath controller programming, as it depends on keyswitches/programming in a sequencer to do that work instead.

I´m a novice in programming in CC lines and working with a expression pedal/breath controller, but I´m willing to try to learn how it works to get more realistic trumpets in my music.

Since these products aren´t cheap, I´m a bit worried if I really can use them well in Live, since Live is a bit rudimentary when it comes to midi compared to other sequencers like Cubase.

Has anybody any tips for how I´m supposed to set up an expression pedal (or a breath controller) in Live?

If I skip an expression pedal/breath controller, and try to program the performance instead within me sequencer, can I do that easily with Ableton Live?

Thanks

So I guess it´s not possible then...

Hey man,

I have experimented a lot with the EIC collection in Live, and while the brass sounds aren't the greatest, you can get some decent results. If you are simply asking if you CAN sequence a trumpet lick in live, you can, just as you would sequence any other instrument. If you are looking to make it sound decent, then let us know and we can further help you.

Cheers.

I recommend sampling, that's what i did for my track called rhodes at night, you can check it out on soundcloud... or beatport (artist id - blueprint rhodes)

I've never heard realistic synth trumpets, so here's another vote for editing some samples.

However, if you just want some simple trumpet part without much melody, it might be possible via the EIC and a skillful use of effects.
