Yes, capturing the moment is something we wanted to focus on.
Hoping to do more "Live Recordings" than automation and midi programming.

Only gear I was considering was;

Laptop.
Ableton Live.
Reason.
Audio interface. (M-Audio Fast track Ultra)
1 x mic.
Novation SL MK2 49
Bass
3 fx pedals.
Microkorg.
Cables.
Headphones.
Picks.

Main sticking point I think will be connectivity with his gear.

Reason for this arrangement is the fact we have been working on my album together for quite some time(I write the tunes and record, he give production guidance and does mixing & mastering). I just want to see whether this arrangement yeilds some different results in a quicker timeframe.

He had created a great result with a piano recording he did of a baby grand in a dining hall with a shitty dynamic mic and 1 hour. Hoping to get some of those 'Capture the moment' recordings.

Don't forget paper and pens. big pens. big paper. you might need to stare at chord changes or lyrics or other instructions from distance while recording. if you really want to record an ep full of stuff you will need to write down lots of things. brainstorming, planing, checklist of what's done, what's pending etc.

you can of course type that into your laptop, but paper is really more versatile for lots of uses.

Duct-tape.

batteries, if there are any being used in the equipment. would be a shame if the active pickups of the bassguitar die during the recording week.

a screwdriver. a knife. scissors. extra strings for the guitars/bass.

blank cds or DVDs for backups of your work.

Thinking I might take a huge whiteboard to negate the need for the Big paper and Pen. I use a whiteboard at the moment to keep a idea of progress on my tracks.

During create slumps or breaks or what not you could still run your other pre-existing stems through FX chains, amps, EQs, reel 2 reel, whatever.... don't stop recording until you sleep

Yes, plenty of cables, extension cords, multiplugs (dont' know how you call them in english) so you can power up all your gear in the same room and at the same time if needed.

I have only just purchased a new 2TB drive for my data server. I might use the 1TB I had in their originally and format it to fill it to the brim with samples.

Don't worry, there won't be much sleep.
