but be honest, there's a novelty to all of the other apps no matter the scripts the this or the that, but live feels like home, like a warm sweater. Live can be boring as you want it to be today and if you so choose it can take you in a direction you've never been in tomorrow no matter how long you've been a user, for an application or tool to be that way it has to be something very special. No other app besides live could bring together such diverse ways of doing things and not only that but there's not even anything else close that could make or stake that claim. Second place is a long way off and far behind, alotta times we look at this or that paticular feature of whatever flavor of the month app that broke ground and think uh oh abletons in trouble, they're nippin at Lives heels or whatever but if you stop and think for a moment Live isn't about one or two features it's about the whole experience, even Lives short comings play a role in it's upswing. Live is like the muhamed ali of music apps and it's not perfect but if you could imagine what boxing was like before and after ali then you can imagine what it would be like in the music world if ableton closed up shop today they are the champs and you can knock a champ down but you can't knock'em out.

You are, in effect, right! I've sold pretty much every single 'thing' I own for making music (even Maschine) and still find that Live will do what I need without any extra plugins or hardware.

Am down to a copy of Live, NI Acoustik Piano & Electrik Piano, and a 49-key controller. Sorted. Got vinyl? Live samples it. Got guitars? Live records them. Want to synthesize stuff? Live does it. Win.

IMO its when you throw in Sampler and Operator that the Live system becomes THE powerhouse workstation....the rest of Suite not real big on.

for sure, I love maschine, and I just scored a nord lead that I've been covetting for a while but Live is like the gatekeeper, it makes everything else better, it's the best companion to everything else I have be it software or hardware. imho it is the ultimate canvas.

it always depends on how you work and what you do.
if live is your "feel home" daw, great!
the world was making music before "live" and will do after it too.
i could tell you a few hundered things i could do with logic, what´s not possible in live that way.
not because it´s better, but because i know it better and it covers my workflow.
i also know a lot of things which work better in live, that´s why i use both.
anyway: if you are not running out of ideas, every daw you like will do.
